After the Mid-Autumn Festival, two junior students from Hubei Engineering Vocational College—Zhang Xiaodong from Electrical Automation major and Wei Shuliang from Applied Electronic Technology major—are engaged in intense preparations. At the second Mobile Robot Skills Contest of the “Belt and Road Initiative 2019 and BRICS Development and Technology Innovation Contest,” which recently concluded, the two teams of Hubei Engineering Vocational College, which stood out from 47 teams nationwide, won high The first place in the first prize of the working group will go directly to the Eurasian World Skills and Technology Open held in Russia from October 28th to November 2nd. Another team of Hubei Engineering Vocational College won the second prize.
What's the story behind such dazzling results? Yesterday, the reporter conducted an interview.
From the zero foundation to the championship, "It is unexpected and unexpected to get such a good result." Speaking of this competition, Cheng Xiaofeng, deputy dean of the School of Electrical and Electronics of Hubei Engineering Vocational College, expressed his joy.
Unexpectedly, several of the contestants have not touched the robot before, they all started from zero. Zhang Xiaodong and Wei Shuliang who won the first prize were a 3 + 2 student majoring in electrical automation, and a student majoring in applied electronics, including the instructor Liu Ge, who is also a new teacher who has just joined this year. He has not previously encountered robots.
Unexpectedly, they all have experience in participating in the competition. At this year's Huangshi Vocational College Skills Competition, Zhang Xiaodong and Wei Shuliang both won the first prize of the electronic product design and production competition. Teacher Liu Ge was also a Hubei A student of engineering vocational college, participated in the Hubei Provincial Vocational College Skills Competition Modern Electric Control System Installation and Commissioning Competition, won the first prize, and was later promoted to undergraduate. Another instructor, Shi Pingzheng, has rich experience in coaching the competition.
"They have some characteristics of participating in the competition." Cheng Xiaofeng said, he thinks that these students "grind and grind" can get results.
For more than two months, the "Devil" training school had a summer vacation, and neither Zhang Xiaodong nor Wei Shuliang returned home and devoted themselves to preparing for the war.
"It was still very confused at the beginning, I don't know where to start." Zhang Xiaodong said.
In order to let them understand what the robot is all about, Cheng Xiaofeng took the students and instructors to Tianjin Bono Robotics Co., Ltd., one of the organizers of the competition.
Although they have not been exposed to robots before, they have a certain degree of correlation with robotics, so after less than a week of studying in the company, they have clarified the knowledge of robot assembly principles.
Returning from their studies in Tianjin, they started a real "devil" training.
"'5 + 2' and 'white + black', there are no holidays." Teacher Liu Ge said that throughout the summer vacation, he entered the laboratory at 7 a.m. every day and basically left after 10 o'clock at night.
The process of preparing for battle is tedious and boring. Often in order to figure out a problem, I repeatedly do the same thing for several days. But they never thought of giving up. "In the beginning, our goal was to go to Russia (Eurasian World Skills and Technology Open)," Wei Shuliang said.
After more than two months of intensive preparations, their efforts paid off. They won the first prize of the first prize of the higher vocational group in this competition and went straight to the Eurasian World Skills and Technology Open. In addition, they also received bonuses and invitations to join Tianjin Bono Robotics Co., Ltd.
Heading for a bigger stage Now, Zhang Xiaodong and Wei Shuliang are engaged in intense preparations. From October 28 to November 2, the Eurasian World Skills and Technology Open will be held in Russia.
"There is pressure and confidence." Facing the upcoming competition, the two players are not afraid, but full of confidence.
Instructor Cheng Xiaofeng said that Zhang Xiaodong is a competitive and strong player. After participating in the Huangshi Vocational College Skills Competition in the first half of the year, he lost his new goal because of the cancellation of the electronic product design and production competition in the Hubei Vocational College Skills Competition this year.
"Our goal is not only Russia, but also Shanghai in 2021." Cheng Xiaofeng told reporters that the 46th World Skills Competition will be held in Shanghai in 2021 and is known as the "World Skills Olympics" World Skills Competition. Held once a year, it represents the world's advanced level of vocational skills development and is an important platform for members of the World Skills Organization to display and exchange vocational skills.
"We must go all out for the" Olympic "at our doorstep." Cheng Xiaofeng said that he is now leading the team to practice military training. While preparing for Russia, he is also preparing for the 46th World Skills Competition Hubei Trials.
